The Government of the Republic of Armenia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on hosting the EBRD's annual business conference in Yerevan from May 14 to 16, 2024.
The memorandum was signed in the city of Samarkand (Republic of Uzbekistan) by the RA Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan, EBRD Secretary General Kazuhiko Koguchi.
The key event of the EBRD 33rd Annual Conference is the meeting of the Bank's highest decision-making body, the Board of Governors, during which evaluations will be made of the work done by the EBRD and high strategic directions will be defined.
A business forum is planned during the conference, where business representatives, investors, and government officials will participate in panel discussions and various networking events
The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the responsibilities regarding the organisation, planning and delivery of the Annual Meeting. Both parties expressed their commitment to a successful event.
"We are happy to host the EBRD Annual Conference in Armenia in 2024. It will give us the opportunity to showcase our country to a wider audience and attract important investments unprecedented significance." said RA Finance Minister Vahe Hovahnnisyan.
The EBRD has invested around 2 billion euros in 206 projects since the beginning of its operations in Armenia, supporting private sector development, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and financial sectors.
