Aram Vardapetyan (1887-1956) studied at the University of Kiev. In 1921-1927, he conducted party activities in Tiflis. In 1927-1928, he was the secretary of the Provincial Committee of Leninakan of the Communist Party of Armenia. In 1928-1931, he worked in ASSR, then in Transfederation People’s Agriculture Commissariats. In 1932-1933, Vardapetyan was the secretary of the Communist Party's District Committee of Ghamarlu (Artashat). From December 1933 to June 1934, he was the ASSR People's Commissar of Finance. He started to conduct party work in 1934-1936 again. In 1936, he was appointed as the Head of the Art Department of the ASSR People’s Commissars Council, and in 1937 – the ASSR People's Commissar of Education. In 1937, Vardapetyan was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
