The RA Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan received the delegation led by Anne Dorit Kempa, Country Director for Armenia of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ). The First Deputy Finance Minister Karen Brutyan also attended the meeting.
Anne Dorit Kempa congratulated Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan on assuming such a responsible office and expressed hope that the cooperation in the future will be effective and will develop in new directions as well.
The parties discussed issues related to program budgeting and public internal financial control within the framework of the Regional Program “Public Finance Management in the South Caucasus” and emphasized the importance of efficiency, transparency and accountability of public finance management systems.
The RA Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan highly appreciated the assistance of the GIZ in the introduction of program budgeting in Armenia and noted that due to this cooperation, the draft state budget for 2019 will be submitted to the National Assembly in the program format.
The First Deputy Minister of Finance Karen Brutyan underlined that cooperation with the GIZ would contribute to the transition from theoretical and experimental discussions in the field of program budgeting to the practical platform, ensuring the full implementation of the system in the near future.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of current issues, pointing out the reforms in the public finance management system and the readiness of the GIZ to further support these reforms.
