On September 25, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Nico Schermers.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Finance congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador on assuming the post, wishing him fruitful activity.

The parties highly appreciated the current level of Armenian-Dutch cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral platforms. Within the framework of the meeting, among other issues on the agenda, reference was also made to the current Armenian-Dutch cooperation in the financial and technical sphere.

The Ambassador expressed his readiness to support the process of expanding technical assistance from the Netherlands, which is mainly manifested in the exchange of experience and knowledge in the financial field.

The Minister thanked for the support and readiness, and also attached importance to the cooperation within the framework of the Dutch Subgroups of the World Bank and the Bank for Reconstruction and Development Bank.

The Ambassador noted that the Netherlands is interested in the potential of the investment climate in Armenia and the deepening of further cooperation in this field.

The Ambassador expressed interest in the impact of "COVID 19" on the Armenian economy and financial sector.

The Minister presented the challenges of the RA financial sphere as a result of "COVID 19" and the efforts of the RA Government aimed at overcoming them. The Minister added that currently budgetary process for 2021 is underway, and as the epidemic is still going on, the search for more effective ways to mitigate its impact is in parallel being discussed, including with international organizations.
