Sargis Khanoyan

Sargis Khanoyan (1877-1937) graduated from St. Petersburg Pedagogical Academy. In 1915-1919, he edited the newspapers "Payqar" (“Struggle”) and "Banvori kriv"(Worker’s Fight”). At the beginning of 1921, he was appointed as an authorized representative of the Armenian SSR in Georgia. From May 19 to July 26, 1921, he was the ASSR People's Commissar of Finance. In 1922-1925, Khanoyan worked as an editor of the newspaper “Martakoch” (“Battle Cry”) of Tiflis. In 1925-1927, was the Chairman of Transcaucasian Central Executive Committee. In 1929, he was the ASSR People's Commissar of Justice, then until 1932, the ASSR prosecutor. He died in 1937 after a long illness.
