The delegation of the RA Ministry of Finance, led by Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan, is participating in the 2023 spring meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in the city of Washington (USA) as part of the Armenian delegation.
Meetings with high-ranking officials of the World Bank began on the first day of the working visit. The delegation had separate meetings with the newly appointed WB European and Central Asia Vice President Antonella Bassani, the Executive Director representing Armenia in the WB Board of Directors Koen Davidse, as well as the authorized representatives of the WB for Armenia.
During the meetings were discussed issues related to the WB's current portfolio in Armenia, as well as the possibilities of expanding cooperation with the WB.
Akihiko Nishio, Vice President of International Development Association for development financing issues, also participated in the meeting with WB Vice President Antonella Bassani, to whom the Minister of Finance handed over the instrument of Armenia's commitment to act as a donor to the IDA within the framework of the 20th replenishment of the IDA, according to which the RA contribution to replenish IDA resources will be 700,000 Special Drawing Rights (about $1,000,000). The WB highly appreciated the decision of Armenia to become a donor of the IDA.
The representatives of the RA Ministry of Finance also had a talk with the delegation of the Georgian Ministry of Finance in Washington. Referring to the current cooperation between the Ministries of Finance of the two countries, the parties exchanged ideas on the expansion of the areas of cooperation, including the exchange of experience.
