On December 11-13, 2017, Public Sector Accounting and Reporting (PULSAR) Program initiated by the Centre for Financial Reporting Reform (CFRR) of the World Bank was launched in Vienna. The Program was developed jointly with the governments of Austria and Switzerland and is aimed at assistance to reforms in the field of public sector accounting and financial reporting in beneficiary countries (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine).
Karen Alaverdyan, Head of Public Sector Accounting Methodology and Reporting Monitoring Department of the Staff of the RA Ministry of Finance, also spoke at the launching ceremony of the Program.
Karen Alaverdyan presented comprehensive information on the introduction of a new public sector accounting system in Armenia, its effectiveness and existing challenges. He underlined the importance of the Program for Armenia, since it creates an opportunity of experience exchange among different countries, which will allow to more effectively organize the activities related to the implementation of reforms applying the best international practice. The attendees addressed a number of questions to Mr. Alaverdyan, which were mainly related to the status of the introduction of a new public sector accounting system in Armenia as well as to the peculiarities of the Public Sector Accounting Standards of Armenia.
