The RA Finance Minister participated in the meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank

On May 25-26, 2023, Vahe Hovhannisyan, the RA Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Republic of Armenia in the Board of Governors of the World Bank, participated in the meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The meeting took place in the city of Tivat, Montenegro, as part of the Dutch-Belgian partner group that includes Armenia.

High-ranking representatives of the institutions responsible for fiscal and monetary policy from the member countries participating in the meetings of the friendly group engaged in discussions on the priorities and programs of the policies of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB). They also addressed other significant issues and challenges concerning the European and global economy. Additionally, reference was made to the work conducted within the framework of the friendly group, along with upcoming tasks.

During the meeting, the World Bank presented the World Development Report 2023 titled "Migrants, Refugees, and Challenges." Panel discussions were also conducted on fiscal and monetary policies with the aim of ensuring economic stability in the face of contemporary challenges.

Within the framework of the friendly group meeting, the Minister of Finance also met with World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani, the World Bank Group Executive Director representing the constituency of Armenia Koen Davidse and IFC’s Vice President for Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean Alfonso Garcia Mora. The parties discussed issues related to current cooperation, exchanged ideas on the possibilities of expanding cooperation in new directions.

A separate meeting was also held with the colleagues of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, during which joint steps in the direction of deepening bilateral interaction and exchange of experience, including through the organization of joint conferences and consultations.
