Within the framework of his working visit to the United States the RA Minister of Finance, Vahe Hovhannisyan, met with Joseph Stiglitz, an American economist, a recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, professor at Columbia University, former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President of the United States, and former Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on tax policy, reforms in Armenia's tax sector, the implementation of a general declaration system, and the development of the education system.
Minister Hovhannisyan also discussed the influx of IT specialists into Armenia in recent years and the tax policies related to the IT sector being implemented by other countries in the region. Referring to the trend among regional countries to create more favorable conditions for IT specialists, the Minister mentioned that serious discussions are currently underway in Armenia regarding deep reforms in this sector.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Hovhannisyan officially invited Professor Stiglitz to Armenia and expressed readiness to continue the same discussions and exchange of ideas in Armenia as well.
