On June 13, at the Ministry of Finance the First Deputy Minister Karen Brutyan met with the representatives of non-governmental organizations headed by the "Armenian Lawyers’ Association" NGO.
The issues of public finance management, one of the 9 target sectors of the "Structural Dialogue Commitment" Program, were discussed, in particular, regarding the development mechanisms of available, simplified budget for the citizens.
Karen Brutyan noted that the regular nature of such meetings is conditioned by the broad scope of cooperation in the field of public finance management, including the development of simplified budget and making it more accessible and understandable to the public in terms of expenditures, revenues and deficit.
"With regard to the simplified budget, the Ministry is ready to work out a format that will enable the budget to be more understandable and useful to the citizen”, - said Brutyan and added that the Ministry has developed and introduced to the public its version of simplified budget and is ready to hear suggestions on this document to make it more targeted.
According to the First Deputy Minister, the development of gender-sensitive budgeting mechanisms should be implemented through cooperation with relevant line ministries; the RA Ministry of Finance is also ready to support it.
Susanna Soghomonyan, representative of the "Structural Dialogue Commitment" Program, said that the initiative is based on CSO-Government anti-corruption reform and a range of other successful joint projects, and the main goal of the program is to provide coordinated work in various areas in the framework of public finance management through cooperation with the Ministry of Finance.
At the end of the meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Finance Karen Brutyan emphasized that carrying out such works with NGOs will contribute to making the behavior of the RA Ministry of Finance as the organizer of the budgetary process more perceptible and expanding the interest of different layers of society in public finances.
