The "Tax Sector for Sustainable Development Goals" program has been launched

The RA Deputy Minister of Finance Arman Poghosyan participated in the launching event of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) "Tax Sector for Sustainable Development Goals" project on November 22. The program helps developing countries boost domestic resource mobilization to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This initiative was initiated in 2022, aiming to assist developing countries in formulating and executing specific fiscal policy measures that will facilitate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It places particular emphasis on strengthening the connections between tax administration, fiscal policies, and the SDGs.

The event featured speeches from various individuals, including Natia Natsvlishvili, the UN Permanent Representative in Armenia, Rustam Badasyan, the Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee, and Kirsti Narinen, the Ambassador of Finland to the South Caucasus.

Armenia is one of the few selected countries in the region, where the program will be implemented in 2022-2024 by the UN Armenia office in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Finance and SRC.

The project will enhance the tax authorities' capabilities to combat tax evasion and illicit financial flows. Additionally, it will support the alignment of fiscal policies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The "Tax Sector for the SDGs" initiative also underscores the significance of the tax sector in expanding social responsibilities within comprehensive and efficient global governance systems.
