On October 2, the RA Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan received representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). During the meeting, Shane Rosenthal, former Country Director of ADB Resident Mission in Armenia, introduced the newly appointed Country Director Paolo Spantigati.
The Minister thanked Shane Rosenthal for his efforts in developing effective cooperation between Armenia and ADB during his tenure. At the same time, the Minister noted that the lending by the Asian Development Fund to the Republic of Armenia on privileged terms has ended since January 1, 2017, given that Armenia's per capita gross national income exceeded the threshold defined by ADB in 2010-2014 and added that the RA Government is pursuing a continuous policy of including the Republic of Armenia in the list of high-income countries.
Atom Janjughazyan also noted that there is a positive change in the attitude of the international community towards Armenia due to the ongoing reforms of the Armenian Government.
ADB representatives congratulated the Armenian side on the successful issuance of Eurobonds. At the end of the meeting, ADB partners expressed confidence that the appointment of Paolo Spantigati as the Country Director of ADB Resident Mission in Armenia will positively impact the efficiency, further continuity and expansion of the cooperation between Armenia and ADB.
